Raleigh Union Station

Raleigh, NC

Catalyst Design / Clearscapes

Raleigh Union Station involves the conversion of an unremarkable mid-century industrial building into a multi-modal transportation center and gathering space that has transformed Raleigh’s National Register Depot District. More than a transit terminal, the project is a destination - the “living room” for Raleigh’s creative district - with restaurant, retail, and offices as well as indoor and outdoor environments for public gatherings and events. While serving as Civic Design and Implementation Manager and later as Assistant Planning Director, Roberta served as owner’s representative, project manager, outreach lead, public meeting facilitator, stakeholder management lead, and grant strategist and author.

Outcomes

Made possible by a unique partnership between all three levels of government (federal, state, and local) and five railroad operators, the award winning design serves as a catalyst for development in the Warehouse District.
